DESCRIPTION:TuLA: The Balance of Life \nA Live Performance Extravaganza \nTuLA: The Balance of Life is a unique\, large-scale live performance event\, combining modern and classical Indian music\, dance\, and costume into a unique and awe-inspiring theatrical experience. TuLA celebrates the interdependence and harmonious coexistence of male and female energies\, reflected in Indian culture by the union of Lord Shiva and the Goddess Parvati—a union that creates balance\, unity\, and love: the male is strong\, powerful\, vibrant; the female graceful\, thoughtful\, and feminine. That balance is powerfully depicted on stage through the defeat of demon Mahishasura in the battle by the fierce and strongly independent warrior Goddess Durga. This visually striking combat-dance symbolizes the restoration of balance and harmony in the universe\, while the gorgeous costumes\, lush music\, and spectacular choreography illuminate the need to create a beautiful world through the harmony of male and female energies. \nTo be premiered on Saturday\, March 16\, 2024\, at Thaden School\, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM \nTuLA: The Balance of Life is a grand partnership between Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation\, Dhirana Academy of Classical Dance\, and Ovations Plus (formerly Trike Theatre). Beyond creating an immensely entertaining 90 minutes of pure theatre\, this collaborative project also provides opportunities for artists and students in NWA to perform for a wide and diverse audience. \nTuLA: The Balance of Life will encourage their growth through the expression of their art. This ambitious production is truly international in scope. Arjun Bhardhwaj\, the eminent Bangalore-based Sanskrit scholar\, wrote the script in Sanskrit and translated it into English. \nProminent Bharatanatyam singer and composer Vidwan Balasubramanyam Sharma composed the original music\, which will be recorded in Bangalore under his guidance. Trike Theater\, Dhirana Academy of Classical Dance\, and Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation are joining together to jointly produce TULA: The Balance of Life. This production combines modern and classical Indian music\, dance\, and costume into a grand multi-media theatrical experience.TULA is the balance of coexistence between male and female energies. It highlights the interdependence of both energies through the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati\, creating balance\, unity\, and love\, and emphasizes the need to create a unified world through the harmonious balance of male and female energies. \nRequirements:\n\nFive years’ experience as a dancer in the Bharatanatyam and/or Kuchupudi traditions.\nPrepare and deliver a five-minute performance\, consisting of three minutes Nirta and two minutes Abhinaya.\n\nCommit to all class and rehearsal dates. \nAuditions times and place:\n\nTime: July 15th\, 2023\, from 3 to 5 pm\, and July 16th\, 2023\, from 10 to 12 pm.\nPlace: Kalaloka Institute of Fine Arts (KIFA) 1380 SW WestPark Dr Suites 2 and 4 Bentonville\, AR\n\nThose selected will need to confirm their participation by the end of July.
